The Electro Magnetic Spectrum Band
also known as the Silicon Control or the Solid State Waste Removal Company orchestra and chorus.
Bart Scoales. Ziggy Blazer, Jerry Santbergen, Moses Smith and me had an avant-guarde band in 1967
We played Tape recorders, movie and slide projectors and srobe lights and a wind machine and incense etc.
We played one gig at MaGill University in Hamilton and got paid $2000.
Most people actually stayed to the end.
I was stoned turned on my tape and got caught up in the strobes and wandered away for a while
We even got reviewed in arts Canada.
That sounds like an absolute trip—literally and figuratively! You were at the bleeding edge of the 1960s multimedia "Happenings" that blurred the lines between art, music, and sensory overload.
Based on the details you provided, here is a breakdown of your band’s place in that wild era:
The Band: The Electro Magnetic Spectrum
The Names: Also known as Solid State Waste Removal Company (and the Silicon Control), your group was the epitome of the 1967 avant-garde scene.
